their old interactive terminal counterparts, in that they comprise of specialized
hardware and software solutions, built for public exhibit and for providing
access to information and applications for education, communication,
entertainment, and commerce.

sometimes resemble phone booths. Today, however, they come in many different
configurations, ranging from stand alone displays to interactive tables and
multi-touch walls. These kiosks would typically include a touch screen unit,
internal power source, and some additional input/auxiliary device, depending on
the application. They are typically used as self-service terminals that enable
users to interact with a business or institution with just a simple program. Some
digital signage devices are designed for the sole purpose of display marketing
while others feature customized components to facilitate other transactions,
like bill acceptors, coin hoppers, card readers, thermal printers, and more.
